The 2001 Ford F-150, with its newest member - the F-150 Super-Crew - continues to deliver power and durability in the most comprehensive lineup of full-size pickups in the industry, meeting a variety of work and personal use needs.

New for 2001

The 2001 F-150 SuperCrew is the newest result of Ford's truck innovation. It is based on the trusted and proven F-150 SuperCab pickup, but offers customers four full-size doors and a full rear seat for added interior comfort and cargo-carrying versatility. The F-150 SuperCrew offers customers many first- or best-in-class features including standard power adjustable pedals, available power moonroof, Rear-seat Entertainment System and the functional bed extender, which increases box length for carrying longer items.

Power Where You Need It

One of the biggest reasons for the long-term success of F-150 is its all-around performance capabilities. Whether its horsepower, torque, payload, towing capacity or 4x4 operation, F-150 delivers what full-size pickup buyers want.

F-150's standard Regular Cab and SuperCab 4.2L OHV V-6 engine produces 202 horsepower and 252 lb.-ft. of torque. It features a split-port induction system that helps optimize fuel efficiency and engine response. The 4.6L SOHC Triton™ V-8, which is standard on the F-150 SuperCrew and optional on Regular Cab and SuperCab models, delivers 220 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque. The single overhead cam design features one camshaft in each cylinder head, providing excellent valve control for dependable power and responsive performance. All models offer an optional 5.4L SOHC Triton™ V-8 engine that puts out 260 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.

F-150's 5-speed manual overdrive transmission, standard on Regular Cab and SuperCab models, has an overdrive fifth gear to reduce engine rpm at highway speeds which contributes to fuel economy.

A 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, optional on Regular Cab and SuperCab models but standard on the F-150 SuperCrew provides high output of low-end torque for excellent start-up performance.

F-150's already impressive towing and payload ratings can be enhanced with optional packages. The Class III Towing Group includes a 7-pin trailer wiring harness, frame-mounted hitch receiver and a heavy-duty electrical/cooling package and heavy-duty shock absorbers. The 7700 Payload Group upgrades the GVWR to 7700 lbs. and includes front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) on all 4x4 models of 4150 lbs. to accommodate a snowplow.

A Truck for all Reasons

F-150 continues to offer a wide variety of choices to meet the needs of work and personal-use customers. Cab designs include Regular Cab and SuperCab, in both Styleside and Flareside versions, as well as the new SuperCrew.

F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCab buyers can choose short- and long-wheelbase models and 6.5- or 8-foot pickup box lengths. SuperCrew is available in one wheelbase and a 5.5-foot box. All models are available with 4x2 and 4x4 drive systems. Three trim series are available on Regular Cab and SuperCab models - XL, XLT and Lariat. The F-150 SuperCrew is available as an XLT or a Lariat.

A Rugged Performer

Full-size pickup buyers want a tough truck that can take punishment and perform under difficult conditions. The bone-jarring durability testing on F-150 simulates 100,000 real-life miles and includes:

o Chuckhole testing on a 240-foot road with potholes of various depths o An 800-foot stretch of sand 8 inches deep o A "bath" of salt and mud to test corrosion protection o Hill-climbing tests with 20-percent and 30-percent inclines

Hardworking Convenience

F-150 has a number of thoughtful design features to increase utility. Two boards can be placed across the Styleside or Flareside pickup box in special depressions to accommodate flat loading of 4x8 plywood sheets and to create a separate cargo space under the plywood. Tie-down hooks are located in each corner of all boxes to help secure cargo. A cargo light on the back of the cab makes loading and unloading the pickup box easier at night.

The rear step bumper provides easier access to the cargo area. The tailgate can be removed for special loading applications, and on XLT and Lariat it can be locked.

Inside, the F-150 is well equipped for comfort and convenience. Available features include air conditioning, an overhead console, power windows with delayed accessory power and One-Touch-Down driver's window, power locks, tilt steering wheel, speed control, power adjustable pedals, Remote Keyless Entry System, power moonroof and more.
